Summary of presentation
This lecture was delivered by Dr. Gourab Sen Gupta who enlightened us with the Advanced applications of Robots in engineering applications. It was a privilege to have him as our guest speaker. His accumulated experience and knowledge is formidable. He discussed different case studies which gave us the information on new innovations and applications of engineering in different fields like agriculture and food technology.

Moving ahead he elaborated on the topics such as the following:

• Importance of sensing and measurement in the world of robotics and automation
• Gave an insight about the importance of incorporating electronics engineering with mechanical engineering
• Highlighted on the admission procedures to Massey University and discussed various graduation programmes
• Projects discussed during the presentation were: Automated sensor platform for cattle lameness detection, vision based automated cow condition scoring, food texture measurement, pain measurement in sheep, automated kiwi plucker and water level detection in farms.

The talk provided information about new techniques adopted in various fields of farming, food processing and livestock herding which is different when compared to the practices adopted in India. Students got the awareness about a lot of new and inspiring innovations in the field of engineering. After the talk, students had an opportunity to raise their quires and the speaker was kind enough to give all the solutions. The session ended on a good note which motivated most of the students to think more into the field of sensors and robotics.
